DAY TWENTY-TWO – PSALM 5

DAY TWENTY-TWO

“Let all who take refuge in you be glad;

let them ever sing for joy.

Spread your protection over them,

that those who love your name may rejoice in you.

For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous;

you surround them with your favour as with a shield.”

Psalm 5:11, 12

COMMENT

These words of David must surely give us every reason to be joyful in the Lord.  You and I can walk in the blessing and favour of God (FOG) every day of our lives.  How can you release God’s favour into your life?  He’s promised it to you but…you must make it yours by speaking out the “Amen” to His promise (2 Cor1:20).  Do you enjoy being with someone who is always grumbling and complaining?  I certainly don’t. Just imagine how much God will do in your life if, instead of complaining about the bad times, you are always grateful about the good things He does for you, and you just keep on rejoicing in His favour.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Thank Him today that you are His favoured child.  Celebrate your privileged position as a son or daughter of the King of kings.  You are special, beloved and precious to God and He wants to lavish His favour on you from morning until night every day.  Wow! Think of that!

DAY TWENTY-ONE – PSALM 1, 92

DAY TWENTY-ONE

“He is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season

and whose leaf does not wither.

Whatever he does prospers.”

Psalm 1:3

“The righteous will flourish like a palm tree,

they will grow like a cedar of Lebanon;

planted in the house of the Lord,

they will flourish in the courts of our God.”

Psalm 92:12,13

COMMENT

Isn’t this a beautiful picture of a tree whose roots go down deep into the stream?  It grows tall and strong because its roots draw up nourishment and moisture from the earth   A person whose life is anchored in God’s word is just like a tree with strong roots.  No matter how hard the wind blows, he is stable and secure because his root system draws nourishment from God’s word.  How would you like to be someone who isn’t easily thrown of balance when trouble comes?  You can be if your  security comes from knowing and trusting in God.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Why don’t you take time today to thank God for the strength and stability you have in your life because you have been rooted in the truth of His word.

DAY TWENTY – PSALM 1

DAY TWENTY

“Blessed is the man

who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked

or stand in the way of sinners

or sit in the seat of mockers.

But his delight is in the law of the Lord

and on His law he meditates day and night.”

Psalm 1:1,2

COMMENT

Have you ever considered how blessed you are to have God’s word in your possession to read and study every day?  Because of the instruction you receive from the Bible, you are protected from living and behaving like the people in the world.  They either have no interest in God’s word because their spirits are dead because of sin, or they do n’t have a Bible to read.  David, the psalmist, says that the person who meditates on the word day and night doesn’t follow the advice of evil people, nor keep company with those who mock God and live sinful lives.  Living according to the teaching of God’s word will protect you from destroying yourself through wrongdoing.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Take a few moments today to thank God for the treasure you have in your hands.  Thank Him that you can read and understand His word and that He has given you His Holy Spirit to open your mind and lead you into truth.

DAY NINETEEN – PSALM 37

DAY NINETEEN

“Commit your way to the Lord;

trust in Him and He will do this:

He will make your righteousness shine like the dawn,

the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Be still before the Lord and wait patiently before Him;

do not fret when men succeed in their ways,

when they carry out their wicked schemes.”

Psalm 37:5-7

COMMENT

Today’s psalm is especially for you if you have been wronged by someone and you long to take revenge.  God’s word says, “Don’t do it.”  God promises that, if you commit your way to Him, He will vindicate you.  You only need to wait patiently for God to act on your behalf and He will.  Fretting and fuming and wanting to take revenge only makes you bitter inside and prevents God from taking action for you.  Wouldn’t you rather have God vindicate you and reveal your innocence publicly than take revenge yourself and get into more trouble?  Even if you are not in this situation right now, at some time in the future you may need this reminder.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Praise the Lord that He cares enough about you to preserve your good name if you have been wrongfully accused or treated.  Thank Him today that He will act on your behalf and free you from taking the action yourself that might get you into more trouble.

DAY EIGHTEEN – PSALM 37

DAY EIGHTEEN

“Do not fret because of evil men, or be envious of those

who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither,

like green plants they will soon die away.

Trust in the Lord and do good;

dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.

Delight yourself in the Lord

and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

Psalm 37:3,4

COMMENT

Have you ever looked at ungodly people and envied their prosperity while you seem to do nothing but struggle?  You may think that God doesn’t care about you, otherwise life would not be so difficult for you.  Instead of looking at the way things appear to be, why don’t you follow the instructions of God’s word?  Instead of envying the wicked, put your trust in God, wait for Him to work on your behalf and see what He can do for you.  He has promised that, if you take delight in Him, He will fulfil the desires of your heart.  Why don’t you put God to the test and allow Him to show you that He is always faithful to His promises?

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

I am sure that you are learning to release your faith by praising God every day for the all the details of His goodness to you.  Do you have desires and longings that have yet to be fulfilled?  Thank the Lord and praise Him that He will satisfy all your desires as you take delight and rejoice in Him, and live in His word.
