DAY SIXTEEN – PSALM 91

DAY SIXTEEN

“Surely, He will save you from the fowler’s snare

and from the deadly pestilence.

He will cover you with His feathers,

and under His wings you will find refuge;

His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.

You will not fear the terror of night,

nor the arrow that flies by day,

nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness,

nor the plague that destroys at midday.”

Psalm 91:3-6

COMMENT

Not only is crime on the increase, threatening our lives from the outside, but disease is also on the increase, killing people from the inside.  You can think of things like AIDS, cancer, heart disease and strokes as well as diseases like TB, malaria, cholera, ebola, bird flu etc, which flare up in different parts of the world every now and then.  People are dying from these diseases all around you.  What guarantee do you have that you will escape them and live a long life?  Apart from living a healthy lifestyle, you have God’s promise that He will protect you from all these diseases if you put your trust in Him.  Have you done that?

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Release your faith in God today by thanking Him that He will keep you free from the activities of criminals and from disease because you have made Him your hiding place and you are trusting in His faithfulness every day.

DAY FIFTEEN – PSALM 91

DAY FIFTEEN

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High

will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress,

my God, in whom I trust.’”

Psalm 91:1,2

COMMENT

We are living in scary times.  Death and destruction are all around us.  Every time we open the newspaper, we read about motor accidents, burglaries, murders, and rapes that come very close to us.  How can we live without fear when no one, not even Christians, seems to be immune to these disasters?  Thank God we have His promise that He is a refuge for everyone who chooses to make Him their dwelling place.  Have you made Him the place where your mind is centred so that when bad things happen all around you, you can still be at peace?  You don’t have to live in fear no matter what happens.  Even if you are the victim of some criminal activity, you can still trust God because He promised that He can turn all your circumstances to your good.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Thank God today for the promise of His presence and protection over your life if you make Him your resting place and your refuge.  He will never abandon you or leave you alone in your time of need.

DAY FOURTEEN – PSALM 103

DAY FOURTEEN

“But from everlasting to everlasting

the Lord’s love is with those who fear Him,

and His righteousness with His children’s children –

with those who keep His covenant

and remember to obey His precepts.”

Psalm 103:17,18

COMMENT

Don’t you love the assurance that God’s love for you is from everlasting to everlasting.  What does that mean?  It means that God loves you from eternity that has no beginning to eternity that has no end.  Wow!  No human being has ever loved you like that.  How many times have you been hurt and disappointed because someone you really loved ran out of love for you?  They walked away and left a terrible void in your life.  God assures you that He will never do that to you.  He cannot because He is love, and His love doesn’t depend on what you are or what you say or do.  His love depends entirely on Him and He will never run out of love or compassion for you, no matter what happens.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Why don’t you praise God today that His love for you has no beginning and no end?  He thought about you, planned your life and loved you from everlasting and will do the same to everlasting.  He wants you to know that love so that every day you will feel loved and secure even if all human beings fail you.

DAY THIRTEEN – PSALM 103

DAY THIRTEEN

“As a father has compassion on his children,

so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him;

for He knows how we are formed,

He remembers that we are dust.”

Psalm 103:13,14

COMMENT

As children of God we have every reason to praise Him because He always acts towards us in compassion.  Compassion means love in action.  Because He made you, He knows what you are made of – dust.  That means that you are neither valuable or durable.  Your worth doesn’t come from who or what you are.  It comes from the one who made you and what He put into you, His own breath and His own life.  That changes the picture altogether.  Although you are a frail human creature whose life can be snuffed out in an instant, you are of infinite value to God and He treats you like a beautiful but fragile treasure.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Focus today on God’s compassion towards you.  He treats you like a delicate piece of porcelain, valuable but fragile.  He doesn’t come and crush you or put burdens on you too heavy to bear.  He treats you with tender love.  That’s good reason to praise Him today.

DAY TWELVE – PSALM 103

DAY TWELVE

“For as high as the heavens are above the earth,

so great is His love for those who fear Him;

as far as the east is from the west,

so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

Psalm 103:11,12

COMMENT

Today’s verses are amazing!  How high are the heavens above the earth?  Immeasurable, you say.  Where do the heavens begin and end so you can have a starting point from which to measure? That’s how great God’s love is for you and me.  There is no place to start measuring because God has no beginning or end.  How far is the east from the west?  We don’t know because we don’t know where the east begins and west ends.  That’s how far God has taken your sins and put them right out of the way.  Far enough for Him not to remember them anymore.  That’s very important. If God has removed your sins from you and blanked them out of His mind, shouldn’t you do the same?

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Why don’t you thank the Lord today that He loves you so much that He has taken your sins and flung them so far away that He will never think about them again?  That’s enough reason to thank Him every day forever.
