DAY TWENTY-SEVEN – PSALM 16

DAY TWENTY-SEVEN

“Therefore, my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;

my body will also rest secure,

because you will not abandon me to the grave,

nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

You have made known to me the path of life;

you will fill me with joy in your presence,

with eternal pleasures at your right hand.”

Psalm 16:9-11

COMMENT

On the day of Pentecost, Peter quoted this Scripture, referring to the resurrection of Jesus as a fulfilment of this prophecy. For you and me, the resurrection of Jesus is the guarantee that we will also rise again and have bodies that can never be destroyed by death or decay.  We have the promise of eternal life in the presence of God, forever enjoying the pleasures He has prepared for those who love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9).

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Let you heart overflow with thankfulness to the Lord today that this life, with all its troubles and heartache, is not the end.  We have a hope of resurrection and eternal life that is always in front of us as a motivation to keep on living for God, no matter what happens in this life.

DAY TWENTY-SIX – PSALM 16

DAY TWENTY-SIX

“Lord, you have assigned me my portion and my cup;

you have made my lot secure.

The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;

surely I have a delightful inheritance.”

Psalm 16:5,6

COMMENT

No matter what your circumstances may be in this life, God has given you His unfailing promise that you have an inheritance in an eternal kingdom that cannot spoil or fade away and that no one can steal from you (1 Peter 1:3-5).  He has also promised you a cup of destiny that is full to overflowing with good things He will do for you and through you (Psalm 23:5) in this life.  God doesn’t allow you or anyone else to choose your destiny for you.  He has personally chosen your pathway in life and He has built into you every desire and every gift you need to fulfil your destiny.  He wants you to know what your destiny is  to follow His plan for you to the end of your life.  Then you will be able to testify with David that the boundaries God has drawn for your life have been in pleasant places

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Today you have an opportunity to thank God for the destiny He has planned for you and the inheritance He has waiting for you which is secure because He holds it safely in His hand.

DAY TWENTY-FIVE – PSALM 9

DAY TWENTY-FIVE

“I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart;

I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you;

I will sing praise to your name, O Most High…

The Lord reigns forever;

He has established His throne for judgment.

He will judge the world in righteousness;

He will govern the peoples with justice.”

Psalm 9:1,2, 7,8

COMMENT

Doesn’t it make you angry when criminals don’t receive the appropriate punishment for their crime?  Sometimes our justice system seems to favour the criminal and punish the victim.  Perhaps you have been a victim of injustice.  How do you feel when someone who has victimised you gets off lightly?  Today we have an opportunity to reflect on God’s justice and be grateful that He reigns over all the kingdoms of men.  He is a just and righteous judge and He will see that justice is done even though human justice systems fail.  God will never allow people to get away with their evil deeds.  He will punish all those who have ill-treated His beloved children and broken His laws.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Thank the Lord today that He is a just and righteous judge.  Tell Him how grateful you are that He will deal justly with those who have wronged you.  He will also deal justly with you if you have wronged others.  He will have mercy on you if you ask for His forgiveness.

DAY TWENTY-FOUR – PSALM 8

DAY TWENTY-FOUR

“You made him ruler over the works of your hands;

you put everything under his feet:

all flocks and herds,

and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air,

and the fish of the sea,

all that swim in the paths of the sea.

O Lord, our Lord,

how majestic is your name in all the earth.”

Psalm 8:6-9

COMMENT

Have you ever thought about how incredible God’s plan is for your life? You may be sitting in an office when you would love to be out of doors or you may be doing something that you really hate.  Have you ever asked God to show you what He wants you to do?  It’s not about earning money to take care of yourself and your family.  It’s about doing what God wants you to do for His kingdom and trusting Him to honour His word that He will provide for you (Matthew 6:33).

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Praise the Lord that He has a plan for your life that is good and perfectly suited to you and your desires.  If you have not yet found that plan, thank Him today that He will show you what He wants you to do and wait on Him to reveal His will to you.

DAY TWENTY-THREE – PSALM 8

DAY TWENTY-THREE

“When I consider your heavens,

the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars,

which you have set in place,

what is man that you are mindful of him,

the son of man that you care for him?

You have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings

(Or.. A little lower than God)

and crowned him with glory and honour.

Psalm 8:3-5

COMMENT

Have you ever looked up into the night sky and felt very small?  Compared with the vast expanses of space and the hugeness of the universe that fits into the palm of God’s hand, you are very small and yet God cares about you because He made you in His image and He made you to know Him and to love Him.  It’s not about size.  It’s about worth.  You are worth everything to God because He made you, He redeemed you with the blood of His own son and He wants you to fulfil His purpose for your life because it fits in with His purpose for everyone else He has created.

PRAISE AND THANKSGIVING

Today is a good time to praise God for the person He made you and for the purpose He has for your life.  Although you may feel small, God says your are significant to Him and He wants you to carry out His grand plans for your life.
